Youth Camp

During the week of July 17, 2017, Deja was in West Virginia at a youth camp sponsored by her church. She attends the Hopewell campus of Destination Church with her family.

New Job

Christina started a new job on July 17, 2017 in the legal department of Orkin, Inc. in Atlanta, GA. Congratulations, Bean, and good luck!!

Camp Baker

Lucas was at Camp Baker from July 3-14, 2017 in Chesterfield, VA. During his second week, he stayed overnight (instead of coming home each day) for the first time—yeah, Lucas!! The Harris Connection hopes you had a great time!

Happy Birthday

Patricia celebrated her birthday on July 13, 2017 with her family at the Cadillac Ranch Great All-American Bar & Grill in National Harbor, MD.

Cruise to the Bahamas/Volleyball

Saje sailed on the Royal Caribbean Cruise to the Bahamas during the week ofJuly 3-7, 2017. She traveled with her Aunt Veda and her cousin, Meghan. Upon her return Saje began conditioning for the Oscar Smith High School Varsity Girls’ Volleyball on which she is a defensive specialist. Hope you enjoyed the Bahamas, Saje; and good luck this season!

Dr. Ruth J. Harris Breakfast

The Harris Connection gathered at the Hampton Inn in Hopewell, VA on July 2, 2017 for a catered breakfast in remembrance of the late Dr. Ruth J. Harris, the family matriarch. 48 members of the Harris Connection were in attendance for fun, laughter, “Ruth Memories,” and a video entitled RUTH: Harris Connection Matriarch styled by Joanne. 

Life & Legend of Rev. Dr. Curtis West Harris

The Harris Connection Patriarch celebrated his 93rd birthday with family and friends via the Life & Legend of Rev. Dr. Curtis West Harris, an event initiated and planned by Dr. Phyllis Byrd and hosted at Union Baptist Church on July 1, 2017. The program featured echoes from Felecia Brown Irving, Avon Miles, Henry Marsh, Marlene Goodwyn, Jackie Shornak, Addie Hall Scott, Wendell Wellons, Gloria Hewlett, and William Keen, a poem written and performed by Mae Pettaway, a video tribute entitled Curtis Harris: A Man About Town styled by Joanne, and music rendered by the Flames of Glory. The thoughtful ocassion concluded with a cookout on the church grounds supervised by Al Gilliam.

The Harris Connection assembled in Hopewell, VA on July 1, 2017, in celebration of the Patriarch’s 93rd birthday. A family picture was taken in front of the house on Rev. C. W. Harris Street.
